Machwa Primary School recently organized an exciting and educational tour to Dodoma, the political heart of Tanzania, providing students with a unique opportunity to explore the country’s history, culture, and governance. This hands-on experience allowed students to learn beyond the classroom while enjoying a memorable and inspiring day.
The tour began with a visit to some of Dodoma’s key landmarks, where students explored the city and gained insights into its cultural and historical significance. The students were enthusiastic to learn about the local heritage, traditions, and the role Dodoma plays in the nation’s development.
The highlight of the trip was the visit to Parliament of Tanzania. Students had the rare opportunity to witness how the government functions and how important decisions are made at the national level. They observed parliamentary sessions, learned about the responsibilities of Members of Parliament, and gained a deeper understanding of democracy, law-making, and civic duties. Teachers and guides helped students relate what they saw to their lessons in social studies and civic education.
Parents and school staff expressed pride in seeing the students engage actively, ask thoughtful questions, and demonstrate curiosity about the workings of their government. The visit not only educated the students about governance but also inspired them to think critically about leadership, community service, and their future roles as responsible citizens.
Overall, the Dodoma and Parliament tour was a fun, educational, and inspiring experience, strengthening Machwa Primary School’s mission to provide holistic education. It encouraged students to appreciate their country’s institutions while cultivating curiosity, knowledge, and a sense of responsibility that will guide them throughout their lives.
